“What do you make, o ye goldsmiths? Necklaces of gold for the king”

You might find it surprising if I told you that it was men who first began to adorn themselves with different pieces of jewellery (not always of gold, of course). Though people associate the act of wearing ornaments with women more these days, women aren’t the only ones who love being bejewelled. In this article, we’ll be looking at some trending, chic necklaces for men.

History has it that 130,000 years ago, Neanderthals were the first to start using accessories. These were made by stringing animal teeth and seashells. In Croatia, researchers found a set of eagle talons from the era, which they believed was a part of a necklace or bracelet, most likely worn by a man. In ancient Egypt, both men and women embellished themselves with gold and silver jewellery because they believed it was the way to get the attention of their gods. Ancient Greek soldiers wore jewellery to battles. British royalty started the heavy-gold chain trend. European men belonging to the 16th and 17th centuries popularised the single-earring look. Pirates and sailors wore jewellery as life insurance. British monarch Henry VIII owned at least 234 rings, 324 brooches and multiple diamond-and-pearl-studded necklets. In the 20th century, men’s ID bracelets became a popular fashion statement.

Accessories enhance your look. They make you appear elegant and gorgeous. The lustre, the colours and the sparkles add to your glamour. A necklace is one such piece that has the power to alter your appearance enormously. Some stylish necklaces for men which are in vogue right now according to VMAN, a fashion magazine, are:
